UPSC Geologist Exam Eligibility criteria:
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Geologists Survey of India and Central Ground Water Board Exam once in a year. The following are the eligibility details to apply for the Geologist Exam.
1) Nationality: The candidate must be a citizen of India.
2) Age: Candidate age must be between 21 years and 32 years for Geologist posts, between 21 years and 35 years for Jr. Hydrogeologist and 21 years and 30 years for Asst Hydrogeologist posts.
3) Age Relaxation:
i. 5 years in case of SC/ST candidates
ii. 3 years for OBC candidates.
iii. Age is additionally relaxable by 5 years for those applicants who had ordinarily been domiciled in the Kashmir Division in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period 01-01-1980 to 31-12-1989.
iv. 3 years for Defence Services personnel (disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof).
v. 5 years in case of ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs.
vi. 10 years in the case of blind, deaf-mute and Orthopaedically handicapped persons.
i. 5 years in case of SC/ST candidates

For Geologists Gr ‘A’ & Asst Geologist Grade-I Group ‘B’
Master’s degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology or Geo-Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology or Earth Science and Resource Management or Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies or Petroleum Geosciences or Geochemistry.
For Junior Hydrgeologists Group ‘A’ & Asst Hydrgeologists Gr ‘B’
a. Master’s degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology
b. Master’s degree in Hydrogeology from a recognized University.
For Geologists Gr ‘A’ & Asst Geologist Grade-I Group ‘B’
Master’s degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology or Geo-Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology or Earth Science and Resource Management or Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies or Petroleum Geosciences or Geochemistry.
For Junior Hydrgeologists Group ‘A’ & Asst Hydrgeologists Gr ‘B’
a. Master’s degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology
b. Master’s degree in Hydrogeology from a recognized University.
5) Physical standards: Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to Geologists’ Examination as per the regulations specified in the examination notification.
